General Information

88th Annual Conference | June 28-July 2, 2013 | Grand Hyatt Seattle

Please review or print the following information which includes registration policies, registration benefits, special activities, airport-to-hotel transportation, audio-visual information, important dates, and a tentative conference schedule.
 

Registration Policies

  • Program participants must register by April 30 to remain on the conference program.
  • Everyone over the age of 18 must register, including spouses and adult guests.
  • Badges are required at all conference events, including sessions, coffee breaks, receptions, special activities, and the Presidential Luncheon.
  • Advance registration closes on June 15, and fees increase $45 to register onsite.
  • Onsite registration opens at the conference site on June 28.

 

Cancellation & Refund Policies

  • Cancellations must be received in writing. Please e-mail sessions@weai.org.
  • Program participants must advise the participants in their session(s) of their cancellation.
  • Refunds will be processed after the conference.
  • Refunds are subject to a $25 handling fee.
  • Refunds for conference participants:
    On or before March 1, fifty percent (50%) of participation fee is refundable.
    After March 1, participation fee is non refundable.
  • Refunds for non-participants:
    On or before June 1, the full registration fee is refundable, less $25 handling fee.

    After June 1, registration fees are non-refundable.
  • Membership dues are nonrefundable.

 

Registration Benefits

  • Conference program and complimentary conference bag.
  • Admittance to all general and concurrent sessions; coffee breaks; WEAI's Welcome Reception; and Presidential Luncheon, with advance reservation (see below).
  • Waiver of manuscript submission fees for current members submitting their conference paper to Economic Inquiry or Contemporary Economic Policy by December 31, 2013.

 

Special Activities

  • A ticket for the Presidential Luncheon is included in each registration fee; however, space is limited and you must reserve a seat by checking the appropriate box on the registration payment form. 
  • Registered guests are welcome to attend the luncheon as well provided a seat has been reserved ahead of time.
  • Children (of all ages) must have a ticket for all special activities.
  • Luncheon ticket(s) and any special activity ticket(s), will be included in the registration packet you will receive on-site.
  • Space is limited for special activities.
  • Please purchase or reserve all special activity tickets by June 1.
  • Cancellations must be made in writing by June 1 to receive a refund. We are unable to give refunds for late cancellations.

WEAI Welcome Reception
Friday, June 28 | 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Take time to relax, renew old acquaintances, and make new friends at the WEAI Welcome Reception. There will be a cash bar and hearty appetizers.

Seattle Mariners vs. Chicago Cubs Baseball Game
Saturday, June 29 | 4:15 p.m. start

Join us at beautiful Safeco Field in the private "Power Alley at the Pen" area reserved for WEAI (max 75 tickets). Includes BBQ buffet throughout the game and reserved field level seats in center field. Safeco Field is about two miles from the Grand Hyatt Seattle. You can take a bus, a taxi, or walk to the field.

Presidential Luncheon/Business Meeting
Sunday, June 30 | 12:15 to 2:15 p.m.

This year’s luncheon features an address by WEAI President Lucian Bebchuk, Harvard Law School. Tickets are required and seating will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis so make your reservation early. Reservation deadline is June 1. Please e-mail any special dietary requirements you have to registration@weai.org.

 

Airport-to-Hotel Transportation

  • Seattle Link Light Rail Train: The train will take you directly from SEA TAC airport to the Westlake Light Rail station, a block from the Grand Hyatt. The cost is only $2.75 each way. For more information, click here.
  • Downtown Airporter: Departs from Level 3 of Parking Garage, Island 2. Cost: One-way - $19 1st rider, $8 each additional rider. Save $5 on roundtrip, kids 17 and under ride free, one for each adult. Make a Reservation for Pick-up/Drop-off
  • Preferred Shuttle Express Sedan Service:Cost: One-way to/from airport starts at $59. Make a Reservation for Pick-up/Drop-off
  • Taxi: Follow signs to "Ground Transportation." Approx. $40 - $50
  • Private Car: Follow signs to "Ground Transportation." Approx. $85

 

Audio-Visual Equipment

  • LCD projectors and screens will be provided in each meeting room.
  • LAPTOP COMPUTERS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED, so coordinate with your fellow session participants if you need one available.
  • Overhead projectors available by reservation only. Call 714-965-8800 with your session number, day, and time, and we will arrange to have an overhead available for your presentation.
  • Mac users be sure to bring your Mini Display Port to VGA adapter for connectivity to the projector.
  • If other equipment is required please call 714-965-8800 for prices and availability. Additional equipment is at your own expense.

 

Important Dates

  • March 1: Program participants cancellation deadline with 50% refund.
  • April 30: Registration deadline for program participants.
  • June 1: Deadline to purchase/reserve special activity tickets.
  • June 1: Paper presenters circulate papers to all session participants.
  • June 1: Non-program participants cancellation and refund deadline.
  • June 3: Last day to make room reservations at the conference rate.
  • June 15: Last day to pre-register at reduced rates.
